AMC (Annual Maintenance Charge)

A recurring yearly fee some brokers charge to maintain your Demat account, regardless of how much you trade.

AMC (Annual Maintenance Charge) is a recurring yearly fee that some brokers charge simply for keeping your Demat account open — separate from brokerage (which is charged per trade). It applies whether you trade actively or not, and whether your Demat account holds shares or sits empty.

Why It Matters

A broker advertising “zero brokerage” can still charge a meaningful AMC. Always check the full fee structure — account opening charges, AMC, brokerage, and DP (transaction) charges — before choosing a broker.
