A moving average calculates the average price over a specified recent period (e.g., the last 50 days), continuously updating as new data arrives. Shorter-period moving averages react more quickly to recent price changes; longer-period ones react more slowly, smoothing out more short-term fluctuation to reveal a broader trend.
