Futures

Near Month Contract

The Futures/Options contract with the soonest (current month) expiry — usually the most liquid of the three simultaneously traded monthly contracts.

The near month contract is the Futures or Options contract with the soonest expiry — the current month’s contract. Exchanges typically list near month, next month, and far month contracts simultaneously for most F&O instruments, with near month usually having the highest liquidity.
