Sensex (Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index) is BSE’s flagship index, tracking 30 large, well-established companies listed on BSE. Launched in 1986, it’s India’s oldest stock market index and, like Nifty 50, uses free-float market-capitalization weighting.
